AM tour to Corcovado Peak & “Christ the Redeemer”. At Cosme Velho Train Station the cog wheel train will climb up through the Tijuca Rain Forest to bring you to the steps of the Christ Statue at 2300 ft above sea level with a breath taking view of Rio de Janeiro, the Guanabara Bay, Sugar Loaf Mountain, the 9 mil Rio Niteroi Bridge, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean (4hs tour)

JUN 12, WED -SALVADOR - City tour & lunch

AM depart for a full day city tour & lunch. Visit the Pelourinho for an immersion in the history of this country. Stop at Farol da Barra (Lighthouse) built on the foundations of a Portuguese fort in the 16th Century, with a panoramic view of the entrance to Bahia de Todos los Santos. Continue along the Victoria Corridor , stop at Tome de Souza’s square. From there you can observe the lower city, the Port, the Mercado Modelo and the Lacerda Elevator connecting the 2 parts of the city and reaching a height of 236 feet. From there on foot we will cross Praca da Se (Se’s square) recently redesigned to arrive in Terreiro de Jesus square and visit the Basilica Cathedral, erected on the site of an ancient 16th century chapel. Visit the Sao Francisco de Assis Church (1713), the best example of Portuguese Baroque style and the most magnificent of Brazil. We continue walking on the shopping streets along the colorful buildings from the 17th & 18th centuries considered a unique architectural group to the Americas and classified as World Monument by t he UNESCO.

JUNE 14, FRI - FULL DAY IGUASSU FALLS - Visiting the Brazilian & Argentinian side

Full day excursion to appreciate the 7th Wonder of the World from the Brazilian and Argentinean side. Immigration formalities at the border.

Morning visit the Brazilian side for a full view of the Falls. Almost 2 miles of falls and about 269 feet high including views of Devil's Throat. Continue to the Argentinian side.Upon arrival to the Visitors Center and the Iguazu National Park Entrance, you will board a gas-propelled train, that will take you to the upper falls circuit and the Devil’s Throat. Once you are at the Devil’s Throat Station you will walk for about one kilometer on a flat catwalk built over the Upper Iguassu River. This catwalk crosses several islands where there are snack bars. Once you get to the end of the catwalks, you will be surprised by a strategic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat.  During this visit, the Falls will be seen from up close allowing for the detailed appreciation of both flora and fauna . Arrive at Santiago de Chile airport and transfer on your own to HOTEL INTERCONTINENTAL

PM: The excursion begins at 2:00 PM, touring the main avenues in the city’s civic center. Highlights include La Moneda Palace, which was completed in 1805 (after more than 20 years of off-and-on construction). The neoclassical building was the home of Chilean presidents until 1958, and today is the seat of the government. Continue exploring narrow streets, eventually arriving at the Plaza de Armas, a picturesque square surrounded by the 18th-century Cathedral Metropolitana, the National Historical Museum, and the central post office. Leaving downtown, head toward Parque Forestal, which leads to the Fine Arts Museum, and Bellavista, the artsy, bohemian center of Santiago. Ascend San Cristóbal hill, a beautiful public park whose peak, the perfect place for a panoramic shot of the city, is crowned with a 118-foot statue of the Virgin Mary. Descend and travel the other direction to the neighborhoods of Pedro de Valdivia Norte, Las Condes and Vitacura, the modern commercial districts and great places for shopping. Return to your hotel.

OCT 17 THU 2024 Easter Island Tahai & Orongo

AM First visit is at the ceremonial site of Tahai with 3 Ahus (platforms) and re-erected statues, the Moais. We also can appreciate remains of boathouses, a boat ramp and other features. Here we see the only statue with eyes. Then we drive to restored Ahu Akivi with 7 Moais, built in the middle of the island. The legend tells us that these statues are representing the 7 explorers who were sent to Rapa Nui by the king Hotu Matua. Proceed to the topknot-quarry Puna Pau with its red scoria stone, where all the Pukaos (hat-like structures) were made. Last stop will be restored Ahu Huri Aurenga, showing a statue with 4 hands, and its special orientation towards the rising sun of the winter solstice. Return to hotel.

PM Drive up to the extinct volcano Rano Kau, on the way appreciate an over view of the whole island and see its distinct geological features, proceed to an outlook of the crater lake. Afterwards drive to the ceremonial village of Orongo, where the birdman competition took place and you can see the spectacular petroglyphs related to this culture, enjoy the breathtaking view towards the 3 islets Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Motu Kao Kao opposite the coast.

Drive down to Ahu Vinapu (not restored) for further proof of the influence of Pre-Inca architect  in Easter Island culture. Last stop is Ana Kai Tangata cave with paintings. We are not allowed to enter the cave anymore, but there are still some interesting historical facts related to the cave.

OCT 18 FRI 2024 Easter Island – Full day tour Anakena

In the morning, we start our full day tour where we drive to the south coast and visit representative examples of not restored platforms, Ahus Vaihu in the bay of Hanga Te’e, and Akahanga, where supposedly the famous king Hotu Matu´a was buried. Proceed to Rano Raraku, quarry of almost 900 stone statues, 397 of them still lying or standing at the slopes of the extinct volcano with crater lake. Then visit the close by Ahu Tongariki (restored with 15 Moais), most recent and biggest restoration on the island. Then we drive to Anakena beach where we’ll enjoy a box lunch that will be served in a barbecue area in Anakena. After lunch we visit restored Ahus Nau Nau and Ature Huke. For a last stop we drive to the east coast and visit Ahu Te Pito Kura and the "Navel of the World". Return to your hotel.

OCT 21 MON 2024 Puerto Natales – Visit Serrano & Balmaceda Glaciers – Puerto Natales

Early in the morning (7:30 am) transfer to the pier to start a beautiful navigation through the Ultima Esperanza Fjord where after a 3-hour navigation you will arrive to the thousand-year-old glacier of Mount Balmaceda, habitat of cormorants and sea lions. At the end of the fjord disembark and walk approximately 1 kilometer (3/4 mile) on a path through the middle of a wonderful native forest to the foot of the Glacier Serrano and from there, admire this huge natural wonder. On the way back, you’ll enjoy a whiskey with millenary ice and a barbecue lunch on a typical ranch (or menu). In the afternoon, arrival in Puerto Natales and transfer to your hotel.

OCT 22 TUE 2024 Puerto Natales – Torres del Paine – Puerto Natales

Breakfast in the hotel. Full day excursion, visiting Torres del Paine National Park. Departure from Puerto Natales, through steppes and Patagonia scrub, full of abundant wildlife and herds of sheep, up to Torres del Paine National Park declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. In the park, a large variety of native fauna especially large herds of guanacos can be observed.

Visit the Salto Grande of the Pehoé River, with the impressive mountain massif of Torres del Paine in the background. Then visit to Lake Pehoé, Lake Grey, from there you will see the Grey Glacier in the distance. Lunch serviced in local restaurant. After lunch, return to Puerto Natales in the evening.

Visiting Lima, Cuzco, the Lost City of the Inkas "Machu Picchu" & the enigmatic Nazca Lines

DEC 4 WED. AM ARRIVE-LIMA: PM Half Day Lima City tour and Larco Museum
Arrive in Lima, Capital of Peru. After going through customs and immigration, you will transfer on your own to the new HOTEL PULLMAN Lima-Miraflores.
PM Enjoy a private sightseeing tour of modern and colonial Lima known as the "City of Kings” and founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1,535 it was the most important city in the Americas during the Spanish Viceroy times. The first stop is Huaca Pucllana, a huge archaeological site which was an important ceremonial and administrative center of the Lima culture. We will then head to the historic center of Lima, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Here we see the Plaza de Armas (Lima’s main square) which is surrounded by impressive buildings from the colonial era. These include the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop’s Palace, and many other landmarks. We will visit the Cathedral of Lima, which houses the tomb of the conquistador Francisco Pizarro. Then we will walk one block to the Santo Domingo convent. It is one of the most important religious buildings in Peru.
Finally, you will visit the fantastic Larco Museum with more than 15,000 pieces from Inka and Pre-Inka times. Here you can see a wide range of artifacts, including ceramics, textiles, and metal work. Then, you will return to your hotel.

DEC 5 THU. LIMA-CUZCO-URUBAMBA-SACRED VALLEY:
Transfer to Lima airport for your flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival, you will be met and driven to your hotel. On the way we will stop at the wonderful Inca town and archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of the Inca emperor Pachacuti, who conquered the region and built the town and ceremonial center. We will spend about an hour exploring these magnificent ruins, visiting the incredible Temple of the Sun, and seeing huge blocks of rock that were perfectly carved by Incan master stonemasons. Ollantaytambo is a fine example of Inca agricultural construction and hydraulic engineering, with a complex series of stone water sources. We will see the extent of the water system when we return to the town, where the fast-flowing water channels built by the Incas are still in use today. Walking towards the town square, we will have great views of the ruins above us, as well as the Inca granaries built into the surrounding mountain slopes. Here we can also observe the daily life of Ollantaytambo, where many of the locals still wear traditional clothing. DEC 6 FRI. URUBAMBA - OLLANTAYTAMBO- MACHUPICCHU
This AM we head to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. The two-hour train journey is a memorable experience as we pass through river canyons and rolling hills. Upon arrival we will walk to the bus for a short but zigzagging ascent up the road to Machu Picchu. Here we will begin an approximately two-hour guided walking tour of this incredible archaeological site. We will see the most famous and spectacular parts of this extensive complex. These include the House of the Guardian, Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, and other key locations. Once we have finished our tour of Machu Picchu, we have lunch (not included), and afterward a bus will take you back to Aguas Calientes where you can relax, enjoy thermal hot springs, or walk around the colorful markets throughout the town.

DEC 7 SAT. MACHU PICCHU-AGUAS CALIENTES TO CUSCO
Morning is at leisure to explore the area on your own. We recommend you either pre-book an optional early morning visit to Machu Picchu with bus ticket and enjoy the sunrise over the ruins and watch the mist rise over the mountain top citadel at dawn or climb Huayna Picchu.

DEC 8 SUN. CUZCO CITY TOUR & VISIT RUINS NEARBY
Morning tour of Cuzco, considered the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere, rises 11,400 feet above sea level. Founded in the 15th century by the Incas, it was later conquered by Spain, whose influences can still be seen in the dramatic architecture known as Cusco Baroque. We will first head to the wonderful Koricancha, next door to Santo Domingo Church. The Koricancha was the most sacred and most important temple in the Inca Empire. Its walls were covered with gold, and life-size statues of plants and animals – all made of pure gold and silver – decorated its rooms and hallways. Then, we’ll head to Cusco Cathedral, located on the Plaza de Armas. Built between 1560 and 1654 on top of the foundations of an existing Inca temple, this spectacular cathedral houses many works of art by the Cusco School of painters, and its main altar and pulpit are covered in gold and silver relief work.
Our next stop is the imposing Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, which sits on a hill above Cusco. Here you will see some of the finest examples of Inca stonework and construction, including massive rocks that were carefully cut and perfectly fitted together to form the walls. Then, continue to Tambomachay Archeological Complex, also known as the Inca spa. Inca hydro-engineering is apparent here with a series of aqueducts, canals, and waterfalls running through the terraced rocks. Return to your hotel

DEC 9 MON. CUZCO-LIMA-PARACAS
After breakfast, you will transfer to the airport for a flight to lima. We will meet our local tour guide and be transfered by private van/bus to Paracas Bay.

DEC 10 TUE. NAZCA LINES
Transfer to the local Inca airport. Then board a smaller plane for a flight over the Nazca lines. Each passenger will have noise-cancelling headphones through which you can hear the informative narration by the pilot. The pilot will take you over all the main geoglyphs, which span over an area of roughly 19 square miles. It is fascinating to think how the Nazca Lines were made and for whom. Transfer back to your hotel in Paracas.

DEC 11 WED PARACAS-BALLESTAS ISLANDS-LIMA
The trip to the Ballestas Islands will begin at 8:00AM, after we transfer to the harbor and head out into the Bay of Paracas. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the islands. On the way, we will pass the famous El Candelabro, a large-scale geoglyph built by the Paracas culture around 200BC. While its exact purpose is unknown, some theories suggest it represents the trident or lightning rod of the god Viracocha, and might have served as a sign to sailors, who could easily see it from the sea. When we reach the islands, we will have about an hour to explore by boat. There, you can see a magnificent view of the islands and the various residents that live there. The guide will point out many of the animals in the area such as the Humboldt penguins, and an incredible number of seabirds, including gulls, terns, pelicans, guanay cormorants and blue footed boobies. We will also be able to spot hundreds of fur seals, sea lions, and maybe marine otters if you are lucky. Once we finish, we will transfer to the hotel in Paracas. In the early afternoon you will depart Paracas for Lima airport to connect with your international flight back to USA. End of services.

Morning sightseeing tour around South America’s most elegant capital. Then, on to see the monumental Congress Building and its Square and along 9 de Julio Ave., the widest in the world, to see the Colon Theater, famous Opera House that stages the most important artists and musicians from all over the world. Transfer to the airport for flight to Mendoza. Meeting upon arrival in Mendoza and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon a tour to this charming town set at the foot of the Andes and the highest peak in The Americas- The Aconcagua (standing tall at 22,834ft. -NO HIKING), visiting the Government House, San Martin Park and Forest, Cerro de la Gloria crowned by a monument to the Andes Liberating Army. APR 6 SAT MENDOZA: Full day visit wineries and lunch
The province of Mendoza is home to the high zone of the river of the same name. The vineyards cover large areas of the states of Maipú and Luján. Their agro-ecological conditions are almost perfect, and is the reason it has been chosen as headquarters by dozens of wineries that produce the finest Argentinian wines. Visitor can tour some of the wine cellars in the state of Maipu, such as Trapiche, Sin Fin, Trivento, Zuccardi, Domiciano, Antigal. Each winemaker has its own seal that differentiates one from another and all show the essence and culture from Mendoza wine.

APR 9 TUE BARILOCHE -PUERTO VARAS “CROSSING OF THE LAKES” Argentina to Chilee
Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer from the hotel to Puerto Pañuelo Port to start your spectacular full day crossing of the lakes from Argentina to Chilee
09.00 hrs. Pick up from hotel. Continuation by bus to Puerto Pañuelo, along Lake Nahuel Huapi where during the journey you can marvel at the beautiful swiss-style architecture that characterizes all buildings in the area, with beautiful gardens and flowers that color the place to Pañuelo Port where we board the catamaran "Victoria Andina "or "Victoria del Lago" for sailing on Lake Nahuel Huapi for an hour to Puerto Blest..
10.30 hrs. We sail to Puerto Blest for 15 miles, where you can appreciate the grandeur of the landscape, and the green of the forests that surround us, including the the birds and also you will learn more about the history of this place..
11.30 hrs. Arrival at Puerto Blest. Here you will take a bus which borders the Frias River for three miles to Puerto Alegre. Then continue on the ship "City of Faith", to sail on Lake Frías to the peaceful and pristine waters of a deep green color due to Puerto Frías. On this tour you will have a beautiful view offered by the Tronador of 3,491 meters. After a short voyage of about 20 minutes you will reach the small port of Puerto Frias, inserted in the middle of beautiful vegetation..
12.30 hrs. After making the departure procedures at the customs of Argentina at Puerto Frías, continue by bus to Peulla. Appreciate the lush vegetation of the Cordillera de Los Andes, as we watch the Tronador with 9 glaciers on its summit. We then enter the Pérez Rosales National Park where we will see Peulla. 15.30 hrs. Departure to Petrohue, Peulla, sailing on Lake Todos los Santos. If the weather allows you will have views of Osorno Volcano and Volcano Tronador and Puntiagudo Hilll

On route visit the Saltos del Petrohué (does not include admission), capricious shapes of volcanic rock, bathed in green waterfalls which continue bordering Lago Llanquihue, Osorno Volcano breathtaking views and scenery Calbuco. Arrive in Puerto Varas and transfer to the hotels envisaged. End of services. Discover the two main cities of this area and their main attractions. Start the day with a complete tour of Puerto Montt. This city is the capital of the region and its location distinguishes it as a strategic link with the southernmost tip of the country. It is located in front of Reloncaví and features a protected bay on its western side due to Tenglo island, and has its own international airport, El Tepual, and seaport. In the Plaza de Armas of Puerto Montt, you’ll visit the Cathedral and the German Settlers Monument. From the Manuel Montt viewpoint, you’ll be able to appreciate a spectacular panoramic view of the city, including the impressive geography that places it on the coastal edge. Afterwards you’ll visit the picturesque cove of Angelmó, the market, the typical chefs and the craft fair; where you can find a wide variety of typical products of the area. The trip continues on the way to Puerto Varas, a lakeside town and spa located on the west shore of Lake Llanquihue, and characterized by the beauty of its landscapes and the German traditions of its founders. The route along the coast that borders part of Lake Llanquihue, offers an impressive view of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. After visiting the Plaza de Armas, the Old Quarter, and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an exact replica of a Black Forest Church in Germany, you’ll make your way back to the hotel.
